Protect your kids from text message scams
Published: 17th July 2012Text message scams have recently become more common. They can take on many forms, including receiving messages that bill you anything up to 5$ per message to complex scams that install applications onto your phone to steal data for indentity theft.
Premium message scams have been around for years, the text messages could be disguised as links to competitions or surveys, or even messages that look like they have come from your friends. Although the premium rate text scams might cost you more money initially the damage that can be done through identity theft can be alot more dangerous.
So, how are these scams been done, well the more advanced identity thefts will involve you clicking on a link in the sms, this will then download a mobile spy applicaton onto your phone, that is usually hidden, your phone will then start transmitting all your contacts, messages, photos, emails and more.
